Terms of Service

These Terms govern your access to and use of SiteBot. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you're using SiteBot on behalf of a company, you confirm you're authorised to accept these Terms for that company.

SiteBot ("SiteBot", "we", "us") is operated from India. Questions: hello@sitebot.in.

1. The service

SiteBot crawls a website you connect, extracts and indexes its text, and provides an AI chatbot — embedded via a widget script — that answers visitors' questions from that content and cites source pages. Features, limits, and plans may change over time.

2. Eligibility & accounts

• You must be at least 16 (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) and able to form a binding contract.
• You're responsible for your account and organization: keeping credentials secure, the actions of users you invite, and the accuracy of the information you provide. An organization is the billing unit and may contain multiple users; the organization owner controls billing.
• Authentication is provided through Clerk; you're responsible for maintaining access to your login.

3. Acceptable use

You're also responsible for disclosing the chatbot to your visitors and for obtaining any consent required by law for processing their chat data (see our Privacy Policy).

4. Prohibited activities

You must not:

• Use SiteBot for illegal, harmful, deceptive, infringing, or abusive content or purposes.
• Crawl or scrape websites you don't own or aren't authorised to process.
• Attempt to breach, disrupt, overload, or probe the service or its infrastructure.
• Reverse engineer, resell, or misrepresent the service, or circumvent plan limits.
• Upload malware, or use the service to violate others' privacy or rights.

5. Your content & license

You retain ownership of your website content and any data you provide ("Customer Content"). To operate the service, you grant SiteBot a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, copy, process, index, and transmit Customer Content solely to provide and improve the service for you — including sending relevant content to the AI providers described in the Privacy Policy to generate answers. This license ends when you delete the content or close your account, subject to routine backups and legal requirements.

6. Your AI keys (BYOK)

You may connect your own OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, or OpenRouter API keys. If you do, you're responsible for your usage costs and for complying with that provider's terms. Your keys are encrypted at rest (AES-256) and only the last four characters are shown. If a key fails, the service may fall back to platform keys subject to plan limits.

7. Plans & billing

• SiteBot is currently free during launch. Paid plans are coming soon.
• When paid plans go live, subscriptions will be billed through Stripe, charged to the organization on a recurring basis until cancelled, and only the organization owner can manage billing.
• Plan limits (such as chats, pages, and websites) apply as shown in the dashboard. Fees are exclusive of taxes unless stated, and are non-refundable except where required by law.

8. Availability & changes

We work to keep SiteBot available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features, and may perform maintenance (during which widgets may be temporarily paused).

9. Disclaimer of warranties

SiteBot is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. AI-generated answers may be inaccurate or incomplete; you are responsible for reviewing outputs before relying on them and for how the chatbot is used on your site.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SiteBot and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of profits, data, or goodwill. Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the three (3) months before the claim, or ₹5,000.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SiteBot and its operator from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your Customer Content, your use of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third party's rights — including processing websites you were not authorised to use.

12. Suspension & termination

You may stop using SiteBot and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, create risk or legal exposure, or for prolonged inactivity. On termination, your right to use the service ends and we may delete your data per our retention practices.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in India for any disputes, subject to applicable law.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the service evolves. We'll post the revised version here and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
